What better place is there than Florida to capitalize on the surfing industry? Jacksonville Beach, Florida-based print provider Atlantic Imaging has mastered this particular market niche, working with corporate-level marketers for many of the large manufacturers in the surf-accessories industry. In most cases, surf goods are sold at small, independently owned surf shops peppered around Florida but because Atlantic Imaging has established its rep with the right folks, P-O-P orders come directly from the major surf brands.

For the Sunrise Surf shop in Atlantic's hometown, the print provider created a window graphic to promote Roxy Quicksilver clothing for female surfers.

After the client uploaded the Adobe art files to Atlantic Imaging's FTP site, the shop used its 64-inch Mutoh 1604 solvent printer with Onyx ProductionHouse RIP to output onto 3M Scotchcal IJ40C media. In all, about 200 square feet were output; total print time was a single day. Atlantic turned to its Seal 600 Laminator and R-Tape Luster overlaminate to protect the graphics.

Install on the shop's exterior window took just one day, and the only challenge was moving vehicles from the property to gain better access. It's not always so easy, says Burton: “Installation is usually the biggest headache,” Burton says, “We frequently need to rent lift equipment to access difficult areas, combined with the wind and rain in the summer; it’s not for the faint of heart.”

Atlantic Imaging employs six in its 7000-square-foot workspace and has been in business for five years. Most of its customers are large corporate clients, Burton reports, and shop specialties include large-format P-O-P, tradeshow displays, and vehicle wraps.
