Third-party ink manufacturer Inx International has opened a new 63,000-square-foot facility in Lebanon, Ohio. Prompted by the company’s expansion over the past decades – production has reached roughly 37 million pounds per year, up from 10 million in 1996 – Inx chose Ohio for its proximity to customers and raw materials. The Ohio facility can be expanded to 90,000 square feet for future development, and will eventually replace one of the company’s four Chicago-area plants in favor of efficiency; Inx International has consolidated from 50 to 15 manufacturing sites since 1982. Safety – our company’s number-one job, says COO John Hrdlick – was the buzzword at the new facility’s July 29th grand opening. The plant features metallized flooring and other static-eliminating measures; nitrogen blanketing to reduce flammability; airflow controls aimed at protecting workers from solvent exposure; separate building sections that contain mishaps to one location; and door-lift sensors that prevent unauthorized vehicles from crossing into restricted areas. Next for the company is the September 8 unveiling of its EMEA facility in Prague.
