From vintage metal signs, neon décor, and rustic farm tools to tapestries and baskets, renters and home owners alike know that walls deserve to be adorned by more than just mirrors and frames. Hanging the same type of art on every wall in every room of a home is known as the art gallery effect, which comes across as boring, sterile, and the opposite of homey. Unique wall décor can serve as an excellent way to add variety and dimension while showcasing one’s distinctive style.

London Vinyl printed a large, retro-inspired plane onto Avery Dennison MPI 2611 Matte Removable Wall Film using a Roland VersaCamm SP-540i.A friend of Sarah Kukovis – the owner of newly launched London Vinyl Designs – purchased a propeller and was searching for someone to paint a plane on her son’s wall. Kukovis told her digitally printed vinyl was the way to go. London Vinyl printed a large, retro-inspired plane onto Avery Dennison MPI 2611 Matte Removable Wall Film using a Roland VersaCamm SP-540i. Two installers spent 30 minutes positioning the 16.5-square-foot decal on the wall, effortlessly complementing the propeller and giving the impression that the plane could fly away at any given moment. “This was one of our very first installs as a company and it went great,” says Kukovis.

Kukovis launched London Vinyl Designs earlier in 2018 as a “side hustle” to her full-time job as a marketing manager and graphic designer for a car dealership. “We were outsourcing our shuttle vehicle wraps and I figured that I could do that,” she said. Kukovis started looking into machines, first purchasing a small cutter. “I instantly realized that I needed to go big so I purchased a used Roland printer and laminator, and I’ve been learning ever since,” adds Kukovis.

The London, Ontario-based PSP offers a variety of printed interior décor products, including custom wall graphics and decals for offices, home nurseries, bedrooms, and “man caves,” and finished canvas prints with custom frames. “I love doing wall graphics! I’ve been doing a lot of kids’ rooms, which are fun because they’re so bold and colorful,” says Kukovis. The car dealership where Kukovis also works recently built a new location, so London Vinyl’s been supplying a variety of printed interior décor, including a giant map of London, Ontario, for the boardroom and a wall wrap with a welcome message for the basement. As the shop’s website proclaims, when it comes to digital print, “the possibilities are endless.”
