InteliCoat has teamed up with Valeron Strength Films to offer a new 9-mil high-strength banner media that can be used on wide-format inkjet printers that use either solvent or aqueous inks. The smooth-surfaced material can be used for pole banners, suspension banners, pop-up banners, and front- and backlit rolling signage. Because it is plasticizer-free and recyclable, the material eliminates color shifting, increases shelf life, and reduces the environmental problems associated with using traditional vinyls. The light weight of the material facilitates handling, shipping and installation.

The cross-laminated, high-density polyethylene film that serves as the media's base material was developed by Valeron, which makes the strong, highly tear-resistant films used to produce electric-cord safety labels and horticultural tags. InteliCoat engineered a specialized top coating to make the film suitable for inkjet printing.

According to InteliCoat's Ed McCarron, “This economical banner media meets all the strength and durability requirements for banner applications, while at the same time delivering real economic, environmental and color-performance advantages over traditional scrim vinyls.”

The material is available in 36-, 50-, and 54-in. widths. Graphics output on the material and protected with Magic Fluorex Transfer Protection are warranted to last up to a year outdoors. (InteliCoat Technologies: www.magicinkjet.com).
