IN THE PAST YEAR or so that I’ve been editor of Big Picture magazine, I’ve learned so much about the wide-format digital printing market and the projects that PSPs create. From wallcoverings to vehicle wraps, backlit signage to event installations, I continue to be amazed at the work our creative community produces.

This is why I’m so excited to present the 2025 winners of Big Picture’s Best of Wide-Format Awards. These accolades represent the best of the best and were nominated by peers and manufacturers/distributors who saw something in these projects that really outdid anything they’d seen this year. As usual, we had many entries and the judging process was challenging. We wish everyone nominated could walk away with an honor every year.

This is my second time with the fortunate opportunity to share these excellent projects with you, and I remain more impressed as the months go by at the execution, creativity, and talent it takes to create such impressive designs and installations. If you’re attending the ISA Sign Expo in April, please join us Wednesday, April 23 from 4:00-5:00 pm booth #3548 (Big Picture and Signs of the Times) for the live awards ceremony.

And if you weren’t one of this year’s winners, don’t fret. I use the nominee forms all year to find interesting stories to share. So watch your email — I may come a’callin’ soon to share part of your wide-format world with your peers.

I’m looking forward to continuing our journey together in 2025 and wish you much success!

Smart Tips From This Issue

  1. When evaluating direct-to-film (DTF) systems, there are four important considerations: Production capabilities, power requirements, space needs, and machine reliability. (Mike Davis, 30)
  2. If you’re procrastinating on a task, forget about completing it. Just put it in a time box of about 45 minutes instead. This helps you overcome your resistance toward it and, when the time is up, you’ll have built enough momentum to continue working on it much longer. (Tip Sheet, 36)
  3. Identify your “busy work blackholes.” Common culprits include repetitive quote writing, basic prepress adjustments, searching for tools or information, routine customer service interruptions, and walk-in customer inquiries. These are your first automation targets. (Mark Coudray, 38)
