Inca's 6-color Columbia Turbo Plus

The latest printer from Inca is a new Columbia machine: the Columbia Turbo Plus. This UV-curable flatbed printer offers two additional print modules for a total of 96 Spectra printheads, as well as a 6-color capability.

“The Columbia Turbo Plus provides the same diversity of printing as the Spyder, but with faster productivity for those printers who typically work with larger print runs,” says Heather Kendle, Inca’s director of marketing.

Imaging on rigid as well as flexible substrates, the Turbo Plus offers a throughput of up to 24 full sheets/hr, which includes substrate handling time. The table accommodates media up to 126 x 63 in. and 1.57-in. thick and is equipped with a vacuum bed plus a double-ended pin-registration system.

The Turbo Plus’s extra printheads enable the machine to incorporate double white or two additional colors to extend the gamut-light cyan, light magenta, green, orange, or violet. At time of purchase, customers choose whether the printer will include CMYKW or CMYK + 2 other colors. Imaging with Fujifilm Sericol Uvijet inks, the Spectra heads produce 28-pl drops and the UV inks are cured with Mercury lamps.

It can produce a top speed of 1689 sq ft/hr in three-pass Fastest mode at 768 x 600-dpi resolution; production speeds top out at 1205 sq ft/hr in five-pass 460 x 1000-dpi resolution; and high-quality 10-pass mode produces 613 sq ft/hr at a resolution of 660 x 1000 dpi.

The Columbia Turbo Plus comes with 5-l ink tanks (one top-loading tank per color) as well as the Wasatch SoftRIP version 6.1. It is distributed by Fujifilm Sericol in the US.
