HP has launched its inaugural competition designed to showcase creative work produced on the company’s digital printers. The North American Inkspiration award winners will be presented at , April 14-16. Categories include commercial printing, labels and packaging, and large-format applications. Judges include:

• William Apostol (Pantone);
• Bruce Leigh Myers (Rochester Institute of Technology);
• Stephen Spencer (Maya Design);
• John Gibson (The Martin Agency);
• Linda Casey (Package Design Matters and Package Design magazine, sister publication to Big Picture magazine);
• Jim Hamilton (InfoTrends);
• John Sartoris (Adweek);
• Howard Owen (Stafford Printing);
• Eric Weisenmiller (Clemson University);
• And Sabine Lenz (PaperSpecs).

“Driven by tight deadlines, it’s easy for PSPs to just ‘check boxes’ to fulfill orders rather than provide customers ‘out-of-the-box’ value,” says Lenz in a release. “The most successful PSPs move from order fillers to true partners by providing innovative solutions to their customers’ challenges, and that’s the source of award-winning work, which we’re excited to recognize with the first North American Inkspiration Awards.”

The Rod Key Marketing Excellence Award will also be presented at Dscoop, recognizing a creative marketing campaign produced on HP equipment. The award honors founding Dscoop member Rod Key.

Entries should be submitted by February 15.
