An HP FB225 Scitex Varnish Ink is a new ink option introduced for the HP Scitex FB7500/7600 Enhanced Color Pack. The new ink allows users to add spot or full varnish, create embossed text and images, and expand the color gamut, HP reports. Additionally, the integrated varnish ink helps protect against rubbing, scratches, and water damage, and more.

HP has introduced two new canvas substrates: HP Premium Satin Canvas and HP Everyday Satin Canvas, for interior-décor and fine-art applications. Both canvas substrates are easy to handle for fast post-production finishing, HP reports. Also now available is a heavyweight HP Backlit Polyester Film for retail signage and backlit displays; the film is designed to achieve vibrant colors and denser blacks with better scratch resistance, plus improved durability. The media are all engineered for HP Latex printers and available via the Brand Management Group (globalbmg.com).

Its HP WallArt Solution now includes a feature to create canvas projects. The cloud-based Web service provides print-ready files and step-by-step install instructions, allowing PSPs to design themselves or work with customers via the cloud to produce customized interior-décor applications, including mounted canvas prints and wallcoverings.

In addition:

• HP has achieved the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) F793-Type II classification for wallcoverings using HP Latex 792 or 610 Inks with DreamScape Matte Wallcovering and Marabu ClearShield Satin LL Liquid Clear Coat. The combination received certification for scrubbability, durability, and frame spread, among other relevant characteristics. This certification enables print providers to help reach interior-décor customers in new markets, such as commercial properties held to federal certification standards, HP reports.

• The 3M MCS Warranty is now available for HP Latex 881 Inks and the HP Latex 3000 Printer when using approved 3M films.

• The HP SmartStream Production Analyzer 2.0 for HP Scitex Industrial Presses adds improvements to the job dashboard and job-summary report, and the ability to set productivity targets.

• The HP Scitex Caldera GrandRIP+ Software solution now includes EasyMedia Module, Caldera’s integrated ICC profile builder based on Xrite i1Prism v2 technology.

Also, The HP Scitex FB10000 Industrial Press made its pubic US debut at SGIA Expo in Orlando. Announced in mid-2013, the FB10000 is designed for high-volume print service providers – particularly those wanting to shift their retail graphics and corrugated-display applications from analog to digital. The 6-color (CMYKcm) press: offers a top speed of 6727 sq ft/hr and direct-to-board printing; features HP’s High Dynamic Range printing technology, which comprises 16-gray-level printing (for fine gamut resolution, more directly printable colors, and subtle shading in images) as well as dynamic dot-size control (multiple drop volumes: 15-, 30-, and 45-pL). It also features new HP HDR240 Scitex Inks – pigmented UV-curable inks designed to achieve excellent adhesion on a wide media range at high productivity and comply with ISO proofing standards, HP reports, helping customers match colors between digital and analog processes. See here for our earlier report on the FB10000.
