WHILE IT’S BEEN difficult to adjust to certain lifestyle changes due to COVID-19 and the mandatory shutdowns around the world, some have found silver linings, such as newfound hobbies, talents, and skills. When Elyse Wood, a 13-year-old from Walnut Creek, California, was presented with additional free time, she decided to try her hand at installing her very own custom wall mural. She handled every aspect of the project from photographing the image of Mount Diablo to formatting, printing, and installing.

Elyse taught herself to use Photoshop and printed the graphic via an HP Latex 575 printer onto Aurora Scenic Expressions Oxford heavy weight textured textile wallcovering fabric. Elyse and her father, Adam, used YouTube tutorials to install the wallpaper. “Understanding where the air vent, electricity, and light switch fit into the layout was an important part of the process,” says Adam. The father-daughter duo was able to successfully align the panels without sketching or skewing, transforming their home office.
