High-Throughput Kongsberg XP Series

EskoArtwork has introduced the new Kongsberg XP series of high-throughput digital-cutting tables, which are designed for 24/7 short-run production of corrugated packaging, P-O-P, and permanent in-store displays. Beyond corrugated board and display carton, the XP series works on numerous substrates, including corrugated plastic, foam boards, MDF, plywood, acrylics, and other rigid materials.

The Kongsberg XP series is available in three sizes: the XP24, with a 1680 x 3200-mm working area; the XP44, with a 2200 x 3200-mm table; and the XP46, with a 2200 x 4800-mm working area. All of the machines offer a maximum cutting speed of 328 ft/min.

Features include:

* Automatic tool leveling with a built-in unit that automatically calibrates the tool level, allowing for quick tool change-out and reduced operator errors.

* Multiple vacuum zones that ensure materials are held in place, regardless of the media's placement on the table. The XP can be optionally equipped with up to eight vacuum zones.

* An operator workstation containing the controller PC, the table control panel, and storage slots for tools.

The Kongsberg XP tooling system consists of a variety of separate tool units that can be quickly mounted and prepared to cut and finish a specific job. Available XP-series tools include a heavy-duty crease tool unit; a reciprocating knife tool unit; a milling tool unit for materials up to 50-mm in thickness; and V-notch knife tool-heads capable of processing different folded angles.

The cutters can be equipped with an automatic optical-registration system to detect registration marks and precisely align cutting line with the printed graphic. EskoArtwork plans to offer automatic material loading and unloading in the future.
