Hasselblad has introduced Hasselblad Phocus 1.0, a raw processor, workflow, and camera control software. Designed for use with the Hasselblad H3DII, the 'photo toolbox' provides users with several benefits. The Phocus RAW processor provides digital lens corrections for color aberration, distortion, and vignetting, Hasselblad Natural Color Solution for optimal colors in images, and moire removal directly upon raw data, which preserves image detail.

The software also provides extended controls for operation of Hasselblad cameras. These features include live video for shot set-up and workflow and the ability to control the lens drive for focusing when the camera is in a remote position.

Also, the software allows users to choose from customizable workflow options, such as choice of import source, browsing/comparision functions, file management, image export in a number of file formats, and pre-setting of options for upcoming shots.

Phocus also extends the metadata included in all Hasselblad images and facilitates accurate and detailed cataloguing and indexing of the images. The software includes GPS data functionality which allows users to link GPS data directly to Google Earth, for geographic reference.

The Phocus Viewer section allows layout and composition to be customized to suit the user's current workflow, providing options including full view, compare, browse, and horizontal or vertical view. Multiple folders can be opened simultaneously for side-by-side image comparison.

Available for registered Hasselblad users. Compatible with Macs; a Windows version is expected in Q3 of 2008, the company reports.
