Hasselblad Introduces H3D-31 DSLR System

Features a 44mm sensor and a ISO rating of 800.

Hasselblad has launched the H3D-31, a 31-Mpxl version of its H3D DSLR camera system designed for professional mobile photographers. Unlike the other two H3D models, which both feature full-frame 48mm sensors, the H3D-31 features a 44mm sensor enhanced with micro lenses to increase ISO rating one stop, to a new maximum of 800. The H3D-31 is the fastest of the H3D trio, offering a capture rate of 1.2 sec/capture (42 captures/min); it’s capable of generating lossless compressed 3F RAW (3FR, Hasselblad’s own RAW file format) files of 40 MB or 95-MB TIFF files.

Features common to all models of the H3D line include: conversation of 3FR files to Adobe DNG in the camera’s FlexColor software, a 2.2-in. 24-bit color OLED display, and an HVD 90x viewfinder. Additionally, the H3D line features: Digital Auto Correction; the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution that provides color management in conjunction with its FlexColor imaging software; and Instant Approval Architecture, a set of feedback tools that help to classify and retrieve images.

The H3D-31 is compatible with the HC lens line as well as a newly designed HCD 28 lens with integral central-lens shutter. Storage is via 2-GB CF card type II, Hasseblad’s 100-GB Image Bank, or the camera can be tethered to a computer via FireWire. Price of the H3D-31: $24,995.
