Hasseblad has launched a limited-edition 503CWD digital camera anniversary kit in honor of the 100th birthday of company founder Victor Hasselblad. Based on the classic Hasselblad 503CW body, the new 503CWD camera features a waist-level finder, focusing screen and chrome winding lever, a Zeiss Planar CFE 2.8/80mm lens, and is bundled with the company's new CFV digital back.

The 16-Mpxl CFV is a single-shot 16-bit color camera back. It can capture up to 35 shots per minute and also offers a 2.2-in. OLED. The CFV back can pair not only with the 503CWD, but also matches with the Hasslblad V System cameras and view cameras using the V System interface plate.

Hasselblad has developed new RGB profiles for its FlexColor imaging software to allow users to produce “reliable, out-of-the-box colors, with skin tones, special product gradations, and other difficult colors,” reports the company. In conjunction with these new profiles, Hasselblad has developed a new file format: 3F RAW (3FR), which includes lossless image compression, saving 33% of storage space. The 3FR files can be converted directly to Adobe's DNG format.

The CFV back also features Hasselblad's Instant Approval Architechture; the choice of CF card storage, tethered operation, or the Imagebank; and FireWire connectivity.

List price: Hasselblad 503CWD/CFV kit: $12,995; CFV camera back alone: $9995.
