GretagMacbeth has launched its new NetProfiler2, which remotely profiles and calibrates spectrophotometers. Currently only supporting the company's SpectroEye devices, NetProfiler2 allows an entire population of spectrophotometers”?in a single plant or throughout a network”?to be verified and certified. NetProfiler2 certifies the measurement performance of each spectrophotometer used in the production process on a regular basis”?ensuring that each instrument is running at peak accuracy. If a spectrophotometer no longer meets performance specs, NetProfiler2 detects and corrects the problem, restoring the instrument to specifications. In addition, it enables customers to exchange spectral color data”?especially in applications like color formulation, color-quality control and spot-color reproduction.

The initial release of NetProfiler2 supports only the SpectroEye; additional support for the Eye-One Pro, Spectrolina, Color i5, Color i7, and ColorEye XTH will be available in Q4 2005. Any supported instrument can be added to NetProfiler2 at any time. Price: $500 license per device for 12 months or 24 readings (essentially, 2 readings or certifications/month), including calibration card.

Specifically designed to meet the needs of packaging professionals, ProfileMaker 5 Packaging creates and edits profiles for scanners, monitors, and for RGB, CMYK, Hexachrome, CMYK + Red/Green and other multicolor output devices (flexo, gravure, offset, and inkjet printing). PM5 Packaging features ICC soft proofing/hard proofing of multipage images; n-color ICC profile generation for up to 10 colors; and a generic output profiler to rebuild a profile when one or more spot colors change, without recreating test charts, etc. It's available individually or bundled with color-measurement instruments. Price: $12,995, including 2 days of training.

GretagMacbeth also has announced online editions of its Color iMatch and Color iQC color-formulation and quality-control software. These online editions enable centralized color data management with secure and shared access, ensuring color accuracy and consistency for remote facilities, suppliers, and customers.

In addition, the company has announced that its Eye-One Pro spectrophotometer is now fully supported by Proof Director Pro 3.x to calibrate and linearize the Fujifilm FinalProof GxT digital halftone proofer. The Eye-One Pro is included in four packages: Eye-One Design, Eye-One Photo, Eye-One Proof, and Eye-One XT.

Finally, GretagMacbeth has introduced its Color Expert training and consulting program. It utilizes 28 color experts and consultants to provide color services at workshop training in 10 training centers in six countries.
