In its continuing quest to simplify the process of color-managing computer displays, GretagMacbeth is acquiring Sequel Imaging of Londonderry, NH. Ever since Sequel was founded in 1989, the company's researchers have concentrated on developing innovative approaches to managing color on CRTs, LCDs and other luminescent displays used in desktop and medical imaging and home entertainment. Sequel's customers include some of the most respected names in color-accurate monitors, including Sony, NEC-Mitsubishi, Barco and LaCie. Sequel recently collaborated with GretagMacbeth in the development of the newly announced Eye-One Display colorimeter for digital photographers and other creative professionals.

GretagMacbeth's chief technology officer Francis Lamy notes that, “We have identified the display business as an important strategic initiative for us. We believe it is the face of the new digital economy.”

Sequel Imaging president Nick Milley believes that by joining GretagMacbeth's global organization, Sequel technicians will be able to focus almost exclusively on R&D: “Marrying our sensor technology with their color-management software know-how is a powerful combination. And, we have a huge opportunity to leverage GretagMacbeth's sales and marketing capabilities, especially their OEM team.” (GretagMacbeth: www.gretagmacbeth.com; www.sequelimaging.com)
