Available in table sizes up to 68 x 36 in., the new Graphtec FC2250 flatbed cutting plotter series offers an Advanced Registration Marks System (ARMS) as well as a choice of material hold-down systems for a range of substrates up to 0.5-mm thick, including polystyrene, stiff paper, corrugated cardboard, reflective films, and more.

The ARMS system uses a two- to four-point system to automatically detect registration marks printed on digitallyproduced graphics. The system can compensate for media misalignment, expansion/contraction, and media shifts that occur during printing and lamination.

With a maximum cutting speed of 16 in./sec, the FC2250 machines also offer selectable cutting forces from 20 to 1000 g to cut, score, or crease the substrate. The material-hold-down systems include vacuum suction (available in 24 x 36-, the 47 x 36-, and 68 x 36-in. models), magnetic in the 47 x 36-in. machine, and electrostatic adhesion in the 47 x 36- and 68 x 36-in. machines.

Compatible with a many popular sign-making, CAD, and design/illustration programs, the FC2250 cutters include Graphtec’s Cutting Master plug-in for Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, a floor stand, second pen holder, one blade holder, and blades. Price for the FC2250 models begin at $12,995 for a 24 x 36-in. table held down with a vacuum suction, and range up to $19,995 for the 68 x 36-in. with an electrostatic adhesion system.

Graphtec also has recently introduced its new FC8000 cutting plotters. Models range from 24- to 64-in. wide, and feature a top cutting speed of 59in./sec with a 20 to 600 g selectable cutting force. Prices range from $2995 to $6995.
