GMG has announced GMG ColorProof 5.6, the latest release of the company’s proofing software for paper containing optical brightening agents (OBAs). GMG ColorProof 5.6 features new proof standards, full support of the new M0/M1/M2 measuring conditions, and its enhanced proof paper, GMG ProofPaper semi matte 250 OBA.

GMG ColorProof 5.6 includes new smart hotfolders and job ticket hotfolders with an XML interface that allows operators to use one hotfolder for multiple printing standards and provide connection to external workflow systems; and a file distribution system that can connect to multiple installations and download new or altered color management files automatically or on-demand to one or more target locations.

PDF files can now be ripped in parallel. The GMG ColorProof 5.6 license includes one RIP, but users can purchase additional RIP instances as their hardware allows, thereby reducing delays between ripping and printing jobs.

ColorProof 5.6 can also reassign jobs to different printers for continuous productivity. The new option has been integrated to automatically move pending jobs from one printer to another compatible printer in case the current printer cannot print.
