Graphic-communications companies seeking to profit from the rising demand for variable-data-need to be well-versed in database management, design and production, postal considerations, and selling and marketing. To help educate businesses in these areas, the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) and Printing Industries of America (PIA) will host the second annual Variable Data Printing (VDP) Conference at the Doubletree La Posada in Phoenix, AZ, November 3-5.

This year's conference promises to cover VDP from all perspectives–printer, designer, and client. Learn from case studies and roundtables on repositioning a commercial printer to succeed in VDP.

Breakout sessions include database, design and staffing issues; engine technology and variable imaging (VI) publishing solutions; production workflow; finishing and quality controls; distribution/mailing; web-enabled VDP; and measuring project success.

The conference is being co-sponsored by the Digital Printing Council (DCP), an industry group of GATF/PIA. The Variable Data Printing conference is $995 ($795 for GATF/PIA or DCP members. For more information about the conference, call Jim Workman, GATF's director of training, at 800-910-4283. (GATF/PIA: www.gain.net)
