The new Jeti 3324 Aquajet RTR direct-to-fabric printer from Gandinnovations is the company’s first printing/sublimation machine. The 130-in. printer features 24 Spectra Waterbased Special Edition printheads (producing 50-pl drops) and an in-house formulated 6-color (CMYKcm) water-based dye-sublimation (dispersed dye) inks. The Aquajet prints in true 600-dpi or 1200-dpi apparent resolution and its speeds top out at 1076 sq ft/hr.

Designed specifically for the fabric and textile-printing industry, the Aquajet prints on most polyester and polyester blends and includes inline-infrared heaters to fix the inks immediately after imaging. After heat fixation, the company reports, the colors are brilliant, are fade- and wash-resistant, and the imaged fabrics are ready to use.

Its beveled media rollers ensure fabrics stay centered on the printer at all times for accurate print quality and registration. Three inline slitters slit and seal the knit or woven polyester fabric to the finished sizes. Other standard equipment includes a built-in vapor extraction and air-cleaning unit, mesh adaptor, roll lifter, rewind unit, printhead cleaning station, and a choice of RIP: Onyx or Wasatch SoftRIP. Optional are additional high-temperature slitting units.

Gandinnovations also introduced at SGIA the roll-to-roll Jeti 3348 UV RTR. Equipped with 48 Spectra heads (producing 30-, 50-, or 80-pl drops), the 130-in. UV-curable printer images in true 1200-dpi resolution and prints at speeds up to 900 sq ft/hr in quality mode.

The 3348 UV RTR offers 4 print modes (300, 600, 800, and 1200 dpi); high-quality printing is achieved at 1200-dpi resolution (2400-dpi apparent), while high-speed is imaged at 300 dpi (600 dpi apparent).

Printing onto a variety of materials, including fabric, canvas, vinyl, plastic film, paper, and polyester, it images in 6-color (CMYKcm), white or varnish can be added as spot colors (replacing cm).

Customers have a choice of RIPs: Onyx or Wasatch SoftRIP. And the printer’s software upgrade allows it to detect individual nozzle misfirings and compensate for this.

The 3348 UV RTR comes with mesh adaptors, a take-up unit, auto head capping, roll lifter, built-in safety guards, and an auto air-vacuum system to eliminate head wiping. For better adhesion to some plastic films, Gandinnovations offers a primer.
