GAERF Announces 2015 Student Design Competition Winners

All entries will be on display at Graph Expo 2015.

The Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation (GAERF) has announced the winners of its seventh annual GAERF 2015 Student Design Competition. This year’s contest, themed “The Pizzazz of Print,” challenged students from secondary and post-secondary institutions to create a printed marketing piece to promote strong attendance at a major event. An independent panel of industry expert judges chose six winners from among the record-breaking 287 entries.

First place winners and their instructors will receive two-day, all-inclusive trips to attend Graph Expo 15 in Chicago, and will be presented with $2000 checks during the show’s Career Awareness Day on September 16. Second place winners will receive $1500, and third place winners will receive $1000. All student entries will be featured at Graph Expo 15's .

Secondary school winners:
1st Place: Mack Griffin, Mingo Central High School, Delbarton, West Virginia (Instructor: Doug Martin)


2nd Place: Helene Wilt, Berks Career & Technology Center, Leesport, Pennsylvania (Instructor: Michael Stein)


3rd Place: Cyelowyn Willey, Crawford County Career and Technical Center, Meadville, Pennsylvania (Instructor: Dennis O'Laughlin)

Post-secondary school winners:
1st Place: Casey Capece, Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, Lancaster, Pennsylvania (Instructor: Pamela Barby)


2nd Place: Yolanda Weiss, McFatter Technical College, Davie, Florida (Instructor: Anthony Fitchett)


3rd Place: Laura Dickman, Waukesha County Technical College, Pewaukee, Wisconsin (Instructor: David Bate)
