WBC Graphics, based outside of Orlando, Florida, recently worked on a project with emergency services training company Training Division to design, produce, and install three vehicles for the nonprofit Give Kids the World, an organization that helps children with life-threatening diseases. The wrapped vehicles – a 2014 Chevy Camaro, a 1967 Chevy Camaro, and a Chevy Silverado 2500 – are used to transport children to medical appointments.

“They’re a huge hit with the kids, bringing happiness to an otherwise stressful situation,” says Rafael Pinero, account manager.

To wrap the cars, WBC Graphics used its HP DesignJet L25500 printer on 3M’s Controltac IJ180Cv3 graphic film and Scotchcal 8518 gloss overlaminate. The Camaros were each wrapped in 135 square feet of material and the Silverado was wrapped in 225 square feet of media.

“We had to be very careful with the classic Camaro emblems,” Pinero says. “They were glued with an epoxy resin and required very careful removal in order not to [cause] damage. Other than that, the install was a smooth process.”

Each vehicle took two installers two days to complete.

WBC Graphics is a small father-and-son team with two 3M-certified Preferred Graphics Installers and 3M Graphics Authorized Trainers, one account manager, and one graphic designer. They wrap up to four cars weekly, and “textured and metallic materials are very popular,” Pinero says, adding carbon-fiber hoods and matte black vehicle customization accents to the list. “We’re also receiving many requests for installations that require knifeless tape applications,” he continues, which eliminates the possibility of cutting into the car’s paint work – a mistake you don’t want to make in the world.
