Extensis has announced Portfolio Server 8.5, an upgrade to its Portfolio Server digital asset-management product. Version 8.5 includes new features to automate metadata-driven organization, tracking, and distribution of digital assets. In addition, it includes improved XMP and file-format support, plus, via its Portfolio Project Sync feature, it now allows users to seamlessly integrate with Adobe Creative Suite products directly from within those applications.

With Portfolio Server, users can access other users through Portfolio Client, Portfolio Express, and websites created with Portfolio NetPublish. Portfolio Server 8.5 provides access points for internal as well as external users.

The company also has upgraded its Portfolio NetPublish product to version 8.5. This latest version now includes a number of new features, including: advanced logging for reporting user traffic; and visual watermarking functionality for images, designed to prevent unauthorized use.

Price: to be announced. Portfolio 8.5 will support Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2 or Vista, as well as Mac OS X 10.4.4 or higher.
