ER2 Image Group Pioneers Green, Grand-Format Printing in Chicago

ER2 Image Group, a full-service grand-format printing company, announced today the installation of an HP LX 3500 extra-large format printer in the company's Bloomingdale, Illinois facility. The printer is one of the first operational units in the Chicago area. The innovative water-based pigment formulation used in the HP LX 3500 means no volatile organic compounds are released during the printing or drying process.

“Our customers have been asking for a production process that has a smaller carbon footprint without loss of quality,” explained Gerry Schellerer, Jr., ER2's VP of Operations. “We chose the HP LX 3500, which uses the latest latex ink technology. It's a very green, earth friendly process.”

With a 10-foot-wide printing surface, the HP LX 3500 fits right into ER2's specialty of grand-format applications such as vehicle wraps, fleet graphics, tradeshow exhibits, and wallpaper for hotels, public buildings, and hospitals. In addition to pressure-sensitive film, the HP LX 3500 will also print on canvas, fabric, paper, vinyl, and even mesh.

Customers will also benefit from other advantages of the new printer which include:

  • Speed three times faster than the previous unit;
  • Greatly enhanced resolution up to 1080 dpi;
  • Outstanding color consistency from side to side;
  • Large run capability using 900-foot rolls of media;
  • Extraordinary durability and scratch resistance on prints;
  • And built-in capability for slitting.

Acquisition of the HP LX 3500 is another example of how ER2 is always willing to invest in technology that will give its clients the highest resolution, brightest colors, and fastest turnaround possible. The combination of the latest technology with the creativity and skill of its professional staff makes ER2 the premier source for grand-format printing in the Chicago area.
