Entries Accepted for SGIA Competitions

Entries are now being accepted for the Golden Image and Andre Schellenberg
competitions, sponsored by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA). Competition entries will be displayed
and judged on site during the Specialty Printing & Imaging Technology Expo (SGIA “?06), which takes place September
26 to 29 in Las Vegas.

Designed “to shine the spotlight on trendsetting prints that have advanced the industry in the past year,”? the two competitions break down this way:

“? The Golden Image Awards showcase
printing excellence in digital imaging
as well as screen printing. Due to the numerous categories available, shops can enter almost any kind of imaged product”?regardless of its market niche or complexity”?produced by a specialty graphic process. The Golden Image competition
offers three subgroups and 37 categories, allowing entrance of up to three works per category.
“? The Andre Schellenberg Competition
focuses on digital-imaging excellence.

Five categories are offered for digital prints: digital photo print, inkjet, textile (transfer or direct), unique applications, and fine art. Two awards are presented within each category; all entries are automatically considered for “Best in Show” and “Best in Digital Creativity” awards.

Deadline is August 21 for US participants, August 8 for international participants. Competition entrants must be SGIA members (individual SGIA memberships cost $149). Printer members receive one free entry for the competitions; additional entries cost $20 each (online submission forms can be found on SGIA's website).
