Engaging in Social Change

To honor the Black Lives Matter movement and healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, 40 Visuals partnered with artist Arianna Margulis to create a wall wrap for 74Wythe, a multi-level venue space in Brooklyn, New York. Margulis’ photographic piece, named #74wythefamiliarfaces, features images of healthcare workers, difference makers, doctors, nurses, and protesters. 40 Visuals provided the printed graphics to wrap the 15,000 square-foot building. The shop used its Agfa Anapurna H3200i LED printer with UV ink to print onto Graphic Formulations GF 285 RoughMark, a matte opaque polymeric vinyl film coated with a high-tack, removable, solvent, acrylic, pressure-sensitive adhesive. Various 24-inch pieces were used with one large, 14.6-foot header covering the event center. Separating the artwork into pieces made each step more manageable and easier to handle when installing, according to the print shop. They used a roller to smooth the surface of the vinyl onto the textured wall and a controlled heat gun for a semi-permanent finish. 74Wythe will open this summer with a continued emphasis on community involvement and charity support.
