Eizo's New CG242W Multi-Application Monitor

Eizo Nanao has introduced the CG242W color calibration LCD monitor, designed for both still and moving image graphics work, including print work, prepress, digital photography, video editing, and post-production.

The CG242W boasts a 24.1-in. widescreen format and native resolution of 1920 x 1200 (16:10 ratio) and reproduces 97% of the Adobe color space (it also reproduces color spaces used in broadcasting formats). It offers hardware calibration, so the monitor itself is calibrated rather than the computer’s graphics board, ensuring that no tones are lost in the calibration process and resulting in accurate on-screen color, Eizo reports. The company’s ColorNavigator calibration software is bundled with the monitor and is used for setting the target values for brightness, white point, and gamma. ColorNavigator works with most measurement devices such as ColorMunki, X-Rite i1, or Spyder 2 to directly utilize the monitor’s 12-bit look-up table for accurate and fast calibration.

The monitor also features 16-bit internal processing, to produce smooth display of grayscale tones and bring out detail in dark areas of an image. It can simulate two types of color vision deficiency-protanopia and deuteranopia-for verification of how color schemes appear to those with color blindness.

Common specs: The CG242W has a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 (16:10 aspect ratio); maximum brightness is 270 cd/m2; contrast ratio is 1100:1; and horizontal and vertical viewing angles are 178?; 82mm height adjustment, 40? tilt, 70? swivel, and 90? pivot for portrait display.
