Eizo Offers ColorEdge LCDs for Graphic Pros

Eizo's new ColorEdge series of flat-panel LCD monitors are designed to provide a stable color viewing environment for graphics, photography, and publishing pros. Compatible with either Macs or PCs, the monitors use Eizo's ColorNavigator calibration software in conjunction with GretagMacbeth's EyeOne? spectrophotometer.

The monitors' circuitry has been engineered to eliminate fluctuations in brightness by stabilizing the brightness soon after startup (or from the power-save mode). The circuitry detects changes in surrounding backlight temperatures and automatically adjusts to the default brightness setting or a user-defined brightness level.
Two models are available: The ColorEdge G21 ($2899) is a 21.3 in. monitor with a 1600 x 1200 resolution. The CG 18 ($1859) is an 18.1 monitor with a 1280 x 1024 resolution.

To ensure accurate and consistent color gradations, Eizo's production-line technicians measure and set every shade of R, G and B by hand. They use the monitor's 10-bit look-up table to produce a monitor gamma value of 2.2 The LUT can be adjusted to calculate values from 1.8 (printing industry standard) up to 2.6. Other specs include 170″? viewing angles, 250 cd/m2, and 400:1 contrast ratios.

With Eizo's Color Navigator software, users of the EyeOne spectrophotometer (sold separately) can make precision adjustments to monitor characteristics such as brightness, color temperature, and gamma.
