Eizo Adds Two ColorEdge Monitors

CG211 and CG210-N.

Two new ColorEdge monitors have been added to Eizo’s lineup of LCD monitors for soft proofing, digital photography, and graphic design. These monitors will replace the ColorEdge CG210, which was introduced in March 2005.

The ColorEdge CG211 is a “Premium Edition” model and comes equipped with Eizo’s latest application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), which has a 12-bit look-up table with a palette of 4081 colors for each R, G, and B, as well as 16-bit internal processing. The CG211 boasts a brightness of 225 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 500:1. It comes bundled with a monitor hood and a screen cleaner kit.

The CG210-N includes a 10-bit look-up table and 14-bit color processing. Brightness for this model: 250 cd/m2; it has a contrast ratio of 550:1. Monitor hood and screen cleaner are sold separately.

Both monitors have a native resolution of 1600 x 1200, are equipped with IPS (in-plane switching) panels that exhibit minimal color shift when viewed from off-center, and feature viewing angles of 170?. Additionally, Eizo adjusts the gamma level at the factory using the monitor’s look-up table to select the 256 most appropriate tones for red, green, and blue. The monitors offer a 40″?”? tilt, 70″?”? swivel, 90″?”? pivot, and a height-adjustable stand with a movement range of 82 mm.

The monitors also have Eizo’s ActiveRotation II feature, which allows users to switch between landscape and portrait modes by rotating the screen. ActiveRotation II is hardware-based, so all redrawing of pixels takes place inside the monitor and not the PC; processing speed is not affected. ActiveRotation II supports Mac OS 9/X and Windows 2000/XP.

ColorNavigator software is bundled and can be used with a GretagMacbeth Eye-One, X-Rite MonacoOPTIX/OPTIX Pro or DTP94/DTP94B, or ColorVision Spyder2 calibration device (each sold separately). Price: CG211, $2799; CG210-N, $2599.
