EFI AnnouncesDesigner Edition v. 5.1

EFI has upgraded its Designer Edition proofing software to version 5.1. Driven by Bestcolor technology, Designer Edition is designed for use by graphic-arts professionals and photographers. The new version supports ICC, PDF/X, JDF, ISO, and SWOP, and features an improved user interface.

Other features include: multicolor profile support; support of 7-color ICC source, simulation, and paper profiles; support for new multicolor printers from HP and Canon; integration of the latest Adobe CPSI 3017; support of PDF up to v. 1.7; accelerated processing of PDF- and PS-based files; Online Profile Updater; support for LAB correction profiles to achieve the most accurate color in proofing applications; and grayscale conversion to five different gray shades.

EFI Designer Edition v. 5.1 runs on both Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. It is also available in an XXL version for the wide-format printing arena, driving printers up to 60-in. wide. Price for the XXL version: $1500; desktop price is $750.

In addition, EFI has announced that its EFI Colorproof XF proofing solution, also driven by Bestcolor technology, now supports the new HP Designjet Z2100 and Z3100 printers–offering linearization and profile generation, a Color Verifier Option for measuring and comparing color values, and a remote-proofing system for quality assurance.
