Durst’s 5-meter Rho 512R UV rollfed printer and Rhotex 322 UV soft-signage printer made their North American debut at SGIA. Both printers are equipped with the company’s new 12-picolitre Quadro Array printheads and its Variodrop printing technology, which controls drop-size modulation by “multipulsing” – delivering two voltage pulses, with the second pulse pumping a precise amount of ink into the droplet before it detaches from the head’s nozzle plate, the company reports.

The Rho 512R has a max. print width of 16.4 ft and can handle a wide range of media (coated and uncoated). It offers a top speed of 3767 sq ft/hr. CMYK is standard; light cyan and magenta, white, and process color addition inks (orange, violet) are optional. Max. resolution is 900 dpi. The 512R can simultaneously print three 1.6m/5-ft. rolls side by side. A textile printing for printing on mesh without a liner is available.

The 126-in. Rhotex 322 soft-signage industrial inkjet printer utilizes Rhotex water-based, VOC-free dispersed dye inks to output onto a variety of textiles. Capable of printing up to 1057 sq ft/hr, and with a max. printing width of 10.5 ft, the machine features: a fold-compensation device, an antistatic system; automatic self-cleaning jet system; controllable hot-air drying; and more. A 4-color inkset is standard; CMYKcm and/or spot colors are optional; max. resolution is 1200 dpi. Applications include printing textiles for use in the home, wall coverings, domestic textiles, and interior design, as well as fashion applications.
