TRADESHOWS MAY SEEM like a distant memory, but just earlier this year your customers were asking for innovative ways to bring their own clients into their booths. PNH Solutions, a large-format print service provider and custom display supplier based in Montreal, knows a thing or two about catching attendees’ attention. The company designed, built, and installed 1325 square feet of graphics for TD Auto Finance’s and Onlia’s booths at the 2020 Canadian International Auto Show. Held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center in Toronto, Ontario, in February, the annual 10-day event brings in 300,000 attendees from Ontario and Western New York.

To promote its latest TD Wheels app, the financial-services provider called upon PNH to create an interactive tradeshow booth, with reception counters, looping video presentations, a lounge, and a motorized race car track area. The fully-integrated large-format print service provider and custom hardware supplier printed the TD brand name, colors, and messaging on fabric banners and vinyl flooring. “Using the Durst Rhotex 320, we printed 100-percent knit polyester for arches, columns, hanging displays, and counters. Using the Durst Rho 900 large-format UV inkjet printer, we printed the polymer for the floor, TV display, and motorized race track,” says Katherine Hudon, marketing coordinator, PNH Solutions.

“The biggest challenge we encountered in both projects was a last-minute change to the structural design of the TD booth due to safety concerns and a change in the floor plan,” says Hudon. “Luckily, our team was able to react quickly, make the necessary changes, and deliver the project on time.” With a tight deadline and 11th-hour changes, PNH was still able to print, ship, and install the printed pieces promptly. The shop even custom built self-standing and hanging hardware with silver anodized aluminum, stained wood, and laminated medium-density fiberboard. “Beyond the equipment we typically use for the SEG frames, placed along the perimeter of the booth, we also used a table saw to create curved arches in the frames,” says Hudon. Both booths used SEG frames, “although the ones for Onlia were backlit with LED lighting while the ones for TD weren’t,” she continues. “With a few exceptions, all the products in both booths were custom-made/designed and completed in-house.”
