The number of offset print users moving to digital printing will continue to grow according to The Future of Digital versus Offset Printing in 2020, a new report by Smithers Pira, a market research firm based in England that covers print and packaging. Their latest report found that while digitally printed outputs account for just 2.5 percent of print volume, the value digital products is 13.9 percent of all printed projects.

This has grown from 9.4 percent of the value and 1.9 percent of the volume in 2010, according to the report. By 2020, digital will be 17.4 percent of value and 3.4 percent of all print and printed packaging volume as offset providers continue to embrace digital.

In a market research program held in June and July of this year, Smithers Pira found that shorter run lengths, technological advancements, and low setup costs are key factors driving offset printers to digital processes. Environmental benefits were identified as the least important issue to PSPs moving from offset to digital.

Available for £4200, The Future of Digital versus Offset Printing in 2020 provides in-depth analysis of the main technology trends and the key issues affecting the digital and offset printing markets.
