Since March 2003, Dickson Media Fabrics has been doing business in the US under the name Dickson Coatings USA. A member of the Glen Raven Group in North Carolina, Dickson Coatings USA weaves and coats fabrics for inkjet- and screen-printing. They offer substrates ranging from 54 to 125 in. wide, for jobs requiring backlit, frontlit, blockout, and mesh materials or ecologically-friendly and flame-retardant substrates.

According to Dickson's Guillaume Massard, the company's 120-in. Jet 220 and Jet Tex products for solvent-system inkjets are particularly popular. Featuring a satin-textile finish, the low-glare materials are lightweight, environmentally friendly, and curl-resistant, with coatings for intense color and short drying times.

Unlike traditional textiles that use 30 to 50% more ink, Dickson's Jet 220 product uses about the same amount of ink as traditional PVC media. At 88-lbs per roll, the materials are about 3 times lighter than a similar roll of banner PVC. The benefits of using lighter weight materials include reduced risk of back injuries during handling, lower shipping costs, and easier and faster installation.

Jet Tex is a lightweight mesh material for backdrops and other indoor requirements. Jet 220 is a frontlit material suitable for indoor or outdoor applications of up to four months. (Dickson Coatings USA: www.dickson-coatings.com)
