Crescent, which has been in the matte board business for more than 100 years, has introduced the CrescentDigital line of acid-free, inkjet-printable media for the digital reproduction of art and photography. All of the conservation-grade, 100% cotton-rag products are designed to optimize color gamuts with either dye-based or pigmented inks.

The most newsworthy product in the line is a 33- x 41-in., 60-pt, 800-gsm board that can be used to produce rigid prints.

Crescent also offers three types of papers in sheets up to 17 x 22 in. and rolls up to 44 in. wide. These products include a Satin Finish “photo-quality” paper, a Velvet Finish paper that adds a softening effect to each image, and a Cold Press Watercolor paper.

Based in Wheeling, IL, Crescent was founded in 1902. Over the years, the company has produced products ranging from theater poster boards and die-cut displays to jigsaw puzzles and cardboard shirt collars. After World War II, it became well-known for its line of Crescent art boards (named for the crescent moon shape often used for matboard samples).
