Corbis has acquired eMotion, the San Francisco-based provider of hosted solutions for managing and distributing digital-media assets and marketing content. The latter company's services are immediately available through the Corbis website.

“Our clients are increasingly seeking ways to manage the still and moving imagery they use in their creative projects,” says Mark Sherman, Corbis's senior vice president of assignment and representation and emerging business. “We are meeting this growing demand with the acquisition of eMotion's asset-management systems, offering one of the industry's best tools for marketing digital assets”?whether they be images, footage, or related marketing materials.”

The eMotion hosted and scaleable platform for digital asset management allows organizations to manage, find, and distribute their digital media. Modules include: Creative Partner (with collaboration tools), Color Management, Page Layout Workflow (allowing the user to work within QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign and have full access to a global library), Image Rights Management (image tracking and monitoring in partnership with Digimarc), and more.

Jon Schupp, Corbis senior vice president of sales and client services, assumes oversight of the eMotion business. Richard Fisher, CEO of eMotion, will transition to a strategic consulting role within the organization.

“Corbis and eMotion's services are a natural complement,” says Fisher. “Now, clients can not only find millions of images in one place, but also can gain simple and economically efficient access to the systems required to collaborate, manage, and share those asssets.”

In July, Corbis acquired image100, while also launching its new royalty-free website and signing numerous leading content creators. (Corbis: www.corbis.com; eMotion: www.emotion.com)
