Comstock's 50,000th Customer Surprised with New Monitor

Stock image firm's royalty-free group may have 100,000 customers soon




She didn't answer the door to find balloons, TV cameras and an oversized check, but Camille Van Den Broeck of Reactor Marketing was excited nonetheless. In February, she got a call from Comstock Images informing her that she was their 50,000th new customer in the US for the royalty-free image division. And, instead of sending her roses, they sent her a state-of-the-art Apple 23-in. high-definition LCD flat-screen display that retails for $3500.

Van Den Broeck says “I couldn't have been more thrilled. On one hand I was delighted to discover Comstock. I found just the right image for my project and ordered it easily. The next thing I know, they're calling me to tell me about the free monitor they're sending me.”

Traci Torres, director of marketing for Comstock, says “We were doing some routine monitoring, and noticed that Camille had just become the 50,000th person here in the US to place an order for our royalty-free products. It wasn't a sweepstakes or some kind of promotional thing, but we decided, heck, let's make her day.” Torres notes that the royalty-free image division is relatively new: “We've gone from zero customers to 50,000 in this division in 2-1/2 years, and that's just our US business. The way things are taking off, it's likely we'll reach our 100,000th customer some time in 2003.”
