In response to a changing industry—one that emphasizes functional and decorative printing done as part of the manufacturing process—a new magazine called Industrial + Specialty Printing (iSP) will begin publication in March 2010. ST Media Group International delivers the hardcopy edition in a bi-monthly format beginning March/April, alternating with Screen Printing magazine, which starts the new year off with a February/March issue.

The same crew publishes both iSP and Screen Printing. Steve Duccilli, group publisher; Gregory Sharpless, associate publisher; Gail Flower, editor; and Ben Rosenfield, managing editor, deliver cutting-edge features, news, and new products to this burgeoning market sector, which includes Fortune 500 companies and large commercial printing operations serving industrial clients. High-volume operations using industrial applications comprise a variety of products: solar panels, RFID, membrane switches, flex circuits, OEM decals, medical implants, consumer smart cards, nameplates, automotive products from dashboards to decorative panels, and many more.

The electronic newsletter for iSP will begin with a twice-monthly publication. The publication will have a standalone, companion Website, and social media will be used actively. Because it spans a broad area of applications, the entire industrial spectrum of printing processes is covered in the editorial calendar. The March/April issue features printing for solar-panel production, membrane switches, labels/decals/stickers, pad-printing production, and a management discussion on how to stretch the limits of existing equipment. The May/June issue reviews industrial inkjet printing, nameplates and panel-front printing, flexible printed electronics, electrically conductive ink, and a management topic of partnering with suppliers. For the complete editorial topic review, please visit the Website.

Industrial + Specialty Printing is the only source for reaching some of the exciting areas of roll-to-roll memory production, printable electronics, the and rewriteable memory products that give consumer products, such as toys, a degree of intelligence and personality. By expanding the reach of printing subjects to all types of industrial printing techniques—from screen printing and digital imaging to pad printing, hot stamping, and in-mold decoration—the reach to a variety of readers can also be expanded.
Screen Printing magazine will continue serving the garment and specialty-graphics industries as a valuable, trusted source for useful articles and information as it has since the publication’s debut in January 1953.
