The Colter & Peterson team expects to get a five-day workout manning two booths at PRINT 17, being held September 10-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago. C&P will exhibit three new paper cutters in booth 4013. A few rows over, a new CHM 1700 precision sheeter will be demonstrated in Shanghai Eureka Machinery’s booth 4413.

“The Print Show is usually very busy for us, so we anticipate a good amount of people will want to see all of the new equipment we will have on the floor,” said Bruce Peterson, President of North America’s largest distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment. “We will debut our new and economical PRISM E-Cut series, in addition to featuring our two premier paper cutter brand lines by running a new 45-inch SABER® and 31.5-inch PRISM®.

“We also are excited about the opportunity to demonstrate our CHM 1700 sheeter with Shanghai Eureka,” continued Peterson. “We introduced this machine to the marketplace the last time PRINT was held in Chicago four years ago. Since then, customers have experienced the many benefits it has to offer and their shops have become more efficient.”

Featuring a modular design with the newest technology and Siemens electronics, the CHM 1700 dual rotary knife sheeter is highly productive and accurate within one-tenth of an inch. Customers have experienced faster transition from paper to board and quicker make-readies, typically reducing set-up time by 50 percent.

“It has the smallest footprint of comparably sized machines in the market,” commented Peterson. “Our customers like having the program capability with touch screen controls, plus they can develop 57-inch tall skids. When you factor in the slitter flexibility and reliability delivered by the servo motor drive systems, it’s hard to match this machine.”

Peterson said he is excited about having the new PRISM E-Cut series ready for PRINT 17.

“We have listened to our smaller format customers and E-Cut will be the most economical line of paper cutters in the market for its size,” he explained. “At 26 inches, it has a state-of-the-art design and a lot of firepower. With automated knife adjustment, the Omron computer and a refined safety system, you can expect reliable performance from a cutting system that is very simple to use. We believe it will be the low cost leader for a niche market.”

The new 45-inch SABER with automated knife adjustment and 31.5-inch” PRISM paper cutter will both be demonstrated in booth 4013 with the time-saving and industry leading Microcut® PLUS Cutter Control System. Known to increase production by 50 percent or more, Microcut PLUS has a wide format programmable touch screen and new software with an enhanced, color coordinated graphics package for converted JDF files.

“The Microcut PLUS Cutter Control System makes nearly every shop more efficient and effective. It gives a shop operator more control over their production and output,” remarked Peterson. “That’s why the overwhelming majority of new SABER and PRISM paper cutters are equipped with Microcut. Customers love the durability and versatility SABER has to cut many different and difficult types of substrates. They love the PRISM for its reliability and precise accuracy, and it serves another purpose. With its small footprint, it doesn’t take up a lot of space.”

From low cost and space-saving measures to significant productivity increases, Colter & Peterson has something to offer for nearly every size operation.
