MacDermid ColorSpan debuted its new DisplayMaker 72s “Gator” wide-format solvent inkjet printer recently at the SGIA show in Atlanta. The DisplayMaker 72s is a 4-color, 72-in.-wide printer and features sixteen 600-dpi Micro-Quad? piezoelectric printheads to print at speeds of up to 400 sq ft/hr on substrates such as inexpensive uncoated vinyl and backlit film.

The DisplayMaker 72s uses ColorSpan's Automatic Eye technology and on on-board spectrophotometer to automate the printer's setup and calibration. A self-cleaning printhead service station uses solvent cleaning solution to ensure the printer doesn't suffer from typical solvent-printer startup maintenance. SolaChrome-HR inks and the solvent cleaning solution are held in easy-to-refill 3.5-liter Big Ink? reservoirs that can be filled during printing for nonstop print production. ColorMark Professional Sofware RIP drives the printer; a variety of third-party RIPS are also compatible.

List price for the DisplayMaker 72s is $54,995; it will be available form ColorSpan's worldwide network of distributors and resellers starting in Q4 2003. (MacDermid ColorSpan: www.colorspan.com)
