CCI Takes Green Steps to Make Our Planet a Better Place

CCI is joining the ranks of big corporations in leading the charge on reducing the carbon footprint. CCI is taking steps to reduce its dependence on the grid with a little help from the sun with solar panels, and recently has also invested in a desert landscape to conserve water usage.

CCI has advanced their initiative in sustainability by installing solar photovoltaic (PV) panels from Sunthurst Energy. Solar power is one of the most important solutions to reducing global warming pollution by using a renewable energy source.

CCI decided to make the investment in solar power to reduce and stabilize energy costs and to be good stewards of our environment by utilizing clean energy. The addition of these panels is expected to provide savings of approximately 80% in energy costs yearly with a 6-year payback period.

“This solar power purchase agreement is a win-win for CCI,” said Daniel Boren, President. “Not only are we helping to reduce the carbon footprint, but it is a good return on investment.”

In the first phase the solar power comes from two 18 kW DC kilowatt DC solar systems which are expected to generate enough clean electricity each year. At the completion of the second phase an additional one 45 kW DC kilowatt solar system will be added. With the final phase in place year end 2016, CCI’s electricity usage should be offset by 100% for company-owned buildings. CCI has already installed two of its four buildings with over 144 modules and will complete construction for the project in 2016. Operation and maintenance of the solar system will be performed by Sunthurst Energy. The system should also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 3,171 tons over the 20-year period–the equivalent of driving a car for 6.3 million miles (reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution).

CCI is also leading the charge on conserving our environments’ limited resources. California's water challenges are immense and the water supply continues to be severely depleted causing severe drought conditions. CCI has taken the initiative to restrict their water usage by investing and installing a desert landscape replacing over 5500 square feet of lawns and ornamental turf with drought tolerant landscaping. Drought tolerant plants capture the natural beauty of the desert while providing significant cost savings. These plants are able to survive in a low-moisture environment, using less water, saving money and saving a limited resource.

For additional cost-effectiveness, drip systems have been installed to reduce the amount of water used in irrigating these plants.

CCI is committed to preserving our planet while providing innovative products and solutions to meet the screen-printing industry’s needs. Combined with premier quality, exceptional service, and outstanding value, CCI will continue to deliver products that will help move the screen-printing industry forward.
