Carl Zeiss has introduced a new 18mm super-wide-angle lens for SLR cameras, the Distagon T* 3.5/18. The lens features a field view of 99? and provides dramatic perspectives for architectural, landscape, and close-range photography; in addition, it features an aperture range of f/3.5-f/22 with 1/2 stop intervals and a minimum focusing range of 0.98 ft.

The new Distagon lens is designed with a floating lens element in the rear lens assembly, which is designed for high image quality. It utilizes Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating and Zeiss color-matching technology to provide homogenous color rendition across all focal lengths. Screw-in filters can also be utilized when combined with the included lens shade.

The Distagon T* 3.5/18 ZF for F-mount cameras is available now; the lens for K-mount cameras will be available in the third quarter of 2008.

Price: $1450.
