Caldera Graphics has launched version 7.55 of its wide-format RIP solution. The latest version features: integration of Pantone libraries for spot-color support, including Pantone Goe and Pantone Color; integration of the RAL color library for spot color; CostView 2.0 with new GUI and new functionalities (see below); and integration of the PPG “Voice of Color” color library. Version 7.55 also adds printer drivers for machines from more than a dozen manufacturers.

CostView 2.0 is a Web-driven dashboard module that allows the user to calculate all costs pertaining to a job-printing costs, finishing, shipping, machine amortization, and other overhead costs. The module’s new PriceView quotation feature allows the shop to estimate a selling price by intelligently comparing a job’s data with that of pre-existing jobs. The user fills in the print and media dimensions, setting minimum margins, client discounts, incremental costs, and so on; PriceView takes into account any paper waste, then estimates a total selling price (per copy and per sq ft).

The company has recently agreed to support the “Voice of Color” Architectural Finishes colors from PPG Industries, which produces paints, stains, and coatings under the Pittsburgh Paints, Olympic, Porter, Monarch, Lucite, and PPG HPC brands in the US. Caldera will provide PPG decoration color codes and values for simulation and color matching on any large-format inkjet device supported by a Caldera RIP. PPG, reports Caldera, is “offering unique color palettes designed to echo the growing interest in the ecological/environmental movement and represent the cultural shift toward balance and authenticity as well as the quest for more organic and eco-friendly colors in the home.”

Two other items of note from Caldera: The company has launched a new tool called Demonet for those wanting more information on Caldera products. Demonet contains technical resources including videos, product tech sheets, and documentations.

It has added drivers for the Agfa Anapurna M, L, XL and XL2 printers. The Anapurnas are driven by Caldera’s Grand-RIP+.
