Aurora Specialty Textiles Recycles 17 Tons of Polyester in 2010

Aurora Specialty Textiles Group Inc. has announced the processing of 17 tons of polyester for recycling in 2010 as a result of the company’s FabRecycle program. The material was a combination of scrap and discarded graphics sent in from customers and scrap produced at Aurora facilities. The material was sent to a recycler, which reprocesses it into pellets for different applications such as injection molding or synthetic fiber.

The Aurora FabRecycle program allows customers to send qualified material to Aurora for recycling. To participate, its customers:

• Collect at least 25 pounds of any of Aurora’s 100-percent polyester fabrics from the company’s Dye-Sublimation/UV Cure printable fabrics line. This can include either printed or unprinted material, including scraps.
• Must remove all non-fabric material, such as grommets, zippers, clips, etc.
• Notifies Aurora’s customer-service department of the shipment, including weight, then packages and ships the material to Aurora’s FabRecycle center in South Carolina.
