Alcan Acquires Uniwood/Fome-Cor

Now offers a wide range of composite materials

Alcan agreed to acquire Uniwood/Fome-Cor Division of Nevamar for $95 million. In combination with Alcan's composite products, the foamboard materials of Uniwood/Fome-Cor will complement and enhance Alcan Composites' offerings to the display and graphic markets.

Alcan Composites is a supplier of composite materials for displays; their products include Sintra?, Dibond?, Forex?, Kapa?, and FoamX?. Its parent company Alcan is a global supplier of aluminum and packaging that had $12.5 billion in revenues in 2002.

Uniwood/Fome-Cor is one of the largest US-based manufacturers of foam-based display boards and their products include Gatorfoam?, JetPrint?, and Fome-Cor?. Uniwood/Fome-Cor was part of International Paper Company until July 2002 when it was sold to Kohlberg & Company and became Nevamar.

Uniwood/Fome-Cor will become a new business entity within Alcan Composites and will be operated in conjunction with Alcan Composites USA Inc. (Alcan Inc.: www.alcancompositesusa.com, Uniwood/Fome-Cor: www.gatorfoam.com)
