Agfa has expanded its Anapurna line with its L and XL machines, which premiered at ISA. The 63- and 98.5-in. printers feature standard 7-color (CMYKcmW) UV-curable Anapurna inks, offer automatic printhead-height adjustment, and can accommodate media up to 2-in., thick.

The Dual-Mode System on both machines enables fast printing of two half-sized media simultaneously. The 63-in. Anapurna L offers poster-quality prints (8-pass, 363 x 363 dpi) at speeds of 136 sq ft/hr with highest-quality prints (16-pass, 363 x 727 dpi) at 75 sq ft/hr. The 98.5-in. Anapurna XL offers poster-quality prints (8-pass, 363 x 363 dpi) at speeds of 215 sq ft/hr, with highest-quality prints (16-pass, 363 x 727 dpi) at 140 sq ft/hr.

Both printers also feature a Wasatch RIP, borderless printing, user-replaceable UV-curing lamps, an automatic ink-refill system, and flatbed tables.

Price: Anapurna L, $169,500; Anapurna XL, $218,000.

In addition, Agfa showed for the first time in North America the company's new bulk-ink feed system, ABISS (Agfa Bulk Ink Supply System), for the Grand Sherpa Universal 90 and Grand Sherpa Universal 65. The ABISS ink-management system offers users longer automated production cycles, says the company, resulting in worry-free, unattended printing. Features include: each ink supply tube has its own filter preventing particles from reaching the printhead avoiding printhead obstruction; the ability to refill during printing; and no cartridge overflow. Four- or 8-bottle systems are available.
