Aimed at the fine-art and photography markets, the new 63-in. Anapurna M printer from Agfa offers print resolutions up to 720 x 1440 dpi. With its Konica/Minolta 14-pl heads, this printer delivers photorealistic quality, sharp text as fine as 4 pt, and fine detail, making it ideal for applications such as P-O-S and P-O-P displays, posters, banners, fleet displays, exhibition panels, stage graphics, and more.

The Anapura M is capable of imaging onto rollfed as well as uncoated rigid media (up to 1.75-in. thick), and utilizes Anapurna CMYKcm UV-curable inks. The inks are rated with a 2-yr outdoor durability, without lamination. To cure those inks, the machine features two user-replaceable UV-curing mercury lamps with full- and half-power settings (to protect thin substrates) and produces no ozone-thus requiring no ventilation-the company reports.

Print speeds range from a top speed of 161 sq ft/hr in poster-quality mode (720 dpi, 4 passes) to 81 sq ft/hr in photo/sign-quality 8-pass mode at 1440 dpi.

Complete with feed and output tables, the Anapurna M also comes with 1.6-l ink tanks and a Wasatch RIP. Other standard features include borderless printing, automatic ink-refill system, and automatic printhead-height adjustment. The Anapurna M will begin shipping in June. Price: $125,000.
