Adobe Updates Raw and Lightroom

Camera Raw 3.6 and Lightroom 4/4.1 announced.

Adobe has updated Camera Raw to version 3.6. Its Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop CS2 now supports 13 more camera models, for a total of more than 140 supported models. New camera models supported include Canon EOS 400D (Rebel XTi/EOS Kiss Digital X), Fuji FinePix (S6000fd and S9100/9600), Leica (D-LUX 3, Digilux 3, and V-LUX 1), Nikon D80, Olympus (E-400 and SP-510 UZ), Panasonic DMC-LX2, Pentax (K100D and K110D), and Samsung GX-1L.

As a companion to Camera Raw, DNG Converter-which translates RAW photo formats into the .DNG file format-has also been updated, to version 3.6. Adobe’s Digital Negative Specification (DNG) is a public format for RAW digital files.

In addition, the company also has announced Lightroom Beta 4.0 and 4.1, its latest digital-imaging workflow solution for professional photographers. The upgrade to 4/4.1 offers improved tools, including a precision white-balance selection option and a more streamlined user interface with customizable controls.

All three programs (Raw, DNG Converter,and Lightroom) are available as free downloads from Adobe’s website.
