ACD Systems International has released ACDSee Duplicate Finder as a standalone product for Mac users; it’s currently a feature integrated into ACDSee Pro 5 and ACDSee 14 photo-editing and management software.

ACDSee Duplicate Finder helps individuals with large photo, video, or music libraries locate hard-to-find duplicate files. It does so by examining the MD5 checksum routines (hashes) in every file on a computer or user-selected folders, or the first 100 bytes of data – as a result, it can identify duplicates of any type of file, regardless of whether the file name is the same or not. The user interface shows a thumbnail of the file, along with file name, size, last date modified, and provides a recommendation on which files to keep/eliminate. MSRP: $9.99.

The company also has announced updates to its existing photo-editing and management software, with ACDSee Pro 5.1 and ACDSee 14.1 available in English, French, and German. New raw updates are now available for several new camera models and there has been an enhancement to the Dodge and Burn tool to give users more flexibility in determining shadows and midtones, allowing for more refined and controlled changes to photos.
