3M has introduced a new 2-mil Controltac Graphic Film IJ380 cast film and its matching Scotchcal Gloss Overlaminate 8580, a 1.2-mil cast. The film–designed for 'extreme' wraps–utilizes new technology, is highly conformable, and has virtually no memory once applied, reports 3M. Compatible with solvent and UV-curable printing, the film and overlaminate carry a three-year 3M MCS Warranty or a three-year 3M Performance Guarantee.

With no memory, the film solves the lifting problem encountered when wrapping deep channels and concaved areas. This permits installers to bridge channels and concave areas, and then stretch the film into place. Examples of vehicles that present problems when wrapping include the Dodge Sprinter Van, Chevrolet Express Van, Chrysler PT Cruiser, VW Bug, and H3 Hummer.

To apply this new film/laminate combination, 3M has developed two new tools: Its Roller L and Roller S are used to roll bridged graphics into vehicle channels.

Additionally, 3M has introduced its Scotchal Perforated Window Graphic Film IJ66 to its promotional product portfolio for short-to-medium duration graphics. Designed for short-term transit applications with a removable self-adhesive adhesive, the 5.8-mil calendered vinyl film features a 60/40 perforation pattern and is available in 54-in. rolls.
